AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER 5, SECTIONS 105.1.1.1 AND 901.3.1 OF THE VILLAGE CODE

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park is authorized by the Illinois Municipal Code to adopt codes and regulations by reference pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/1-3-2; and

 

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village have adopted the 2006 International Fire Code (with amendments) as the Fire Code of the Village, said Fire Code now found at Title 5, Chapter 5 of the Village Code; and

 

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities have determined that fire protection plans and fire sprinkler and alarm plans shall be submitted to the Village rather than the Orland Fire Protection District for review and approval.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, an Illinois home rule municipality, as follows:

 

SECTION 1

 

Title 5, Building, Chapter 5, Fire Code, Sections 105.1.1.1 and 901.3.1 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park are hereby amended to provide as follows:

 

“105.1.1.1  Permit Plans:  Fire protection plans shall be submitted prior to any construction or alterations of fire protection systems.  Construction plans shall be approved by the Village of Orland Park.

 

901.3.1 FIRE SPRINKLER AND ALARM PLANS:  Fire protection system plans shall be submitted to the Village of Orland Park for review and approval prior to any construction of new or change to existing equipment systems.  The plans shall be signed and sealed by a State of Illinois licensed engineer.  See the Illinois Professional Engineering Practice Act (225 ILCS 325/1, et seq.)”

 

SECTION 2

 

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed insofar as they conflict herewith.

 

SECTION 3

 

This Ordinance shall become and be effective immediately upon its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.  It is ordered that publication of this Ordinance be made by duplicating thereof in pamphlet form, said pamphlets to be deposited in the office of the Village Clerk of the Village of Orland Park for general circulation.
