PLANNING OVERVIEW:
The Old Orland Heritage Foundation, the preservation group for the Twin Towers Church, a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places and owned by the Orland Park United Methodist Church, has over the years incrementally painted and maintained the building. The Heritage Foundation is petitioning to continue the previous efforts and repair the existing paint job on the building.
The United Methodist Church supports the Heritage Foundation’s preservation effort with this petition.
An administrative review approved the project on July 23, 2008 per Section 6-209 of the Land Development Code.
On July 28, 2008 the Development Services and Planning Committee moved 3-0 to recommend to the Village Board of Trustees to accept the Old Orland Heritage Foundation’s Old Orland Façade Improvement Program application for $2,375.00 in matching grant funds to repair the paint on the Twin Towers Church’s east elevation and east half of the southern elevation, subject to the following information:
1. That the petitioner understands that the Façade Improvement Program is currently unfunded for this Fiscal Year.
2. That the petitioner understands that until funds are made available again this project will remain on a waiting list for formal approval on a “first come, first serve” priority.
DISCUSSION:
Since the Committee, the Petitioner understands the conditions.
This is now before the Village Board for consideration.
Financial Impact
Fiscal year 2009 Budget will have some funding available to consider funding this request. The impact would be $2,375.00.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to accept the Old Orland Heritage Foundation’s Old Orland Façade Improvement Program application for $2,375.00 in matching grant funds to repair the paint on the Twin Towers Church’s east elevation and east half of the southern elevation, subject to the following information:
1. That the petitioner understands that the Façade Improvement Program is currently unfunded for this Fiscal Year.
2. That the petitioner understands that until funds are made available again this project will remain on a waiting list for formal approval on a “first come, first serve” priority.
