AN ORDINANCE CREATING A NEW TITLE 9 (TRAFFIC), CHAPTER 9 (TRAFFIC SCHEDULES), SECTION 9-9-17 (DESIGNATED TRUCK ROUTES) FROM THE ORLAND PARK VILLAGE CODE

WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park (the “Village”) have the authority to adopt ordinances and to promulgate rules and regulations that pertain to its government and affairs and protect the public health, safety, and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/1-2-1, the Village may pass all ordinances and make all rules and regulations proper or necessary, to carry into effect the powers granted to municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the Village deems it to be in the best interest of the public to establish designated truck routes to ensure the efficient and safe movement of trucks through the Village of Orland Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, and pursuant to its home rule powers, as follows:
SECTION 1
The above recitals are incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2
Title 9, “Traffic”, Chapter 9 “Traffic Schedules” of the Orland Park Village Code is hereby amended to add a new Section 9-9-17 “Designated Truck Routes” which shall read in its entirety as follows:
“9-9-17 Designated Truck Routes:
The following streets and parts of streets are hereby declared to be designated truck routes:
- 143rd Street from Wolf Road to Harlem Avenue
- 159th Street from Will-Cook Road to Harlem Avenue
- Harlem Avenue from 159th Street to 151st Street
- La Grange Road from Orland Parkway to 131st Street
- Southwest Highway from Will-Cook Road to Wolf Road
- Southwest Highway from 143rd Street to 131st Street
- Wolf Road from 183rd Place/Orland Parkway to 143rd Street
Designated truck routes in roadways under Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH) jurisdiction are also subject to requirements of these agencies.”
SECTION 3
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
