AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER 3 OF THE ORLAND PARK VILLAGE CODE TO ADOPT THE 2011 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE WITH AMENDMENTS AS THE ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park is authorized to adopt codes by reference pursuant to Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS 5/1-3-2; and
WHEREAS, a copy of the National Electrical Code - 2011 has been on file with the Office of the Clerk of the Village of Orland Park for thirty (30) days and has, during that time, been available for public use, inspection, and examination; and
WHEREAS, the Village desires to amend the Village Code, Title 5, Building, Chapter 3, Electrical Code, to indicate its adoption of the National Electrical Code - 2011 in place of the National Electrical Code - 2005.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1
Section 5-3-1 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended to delete in its entirety the text of Section 5-3-1, “Electrical Inspection Department Created,” and to substitute the following as new text for Section 5-3-1, “Electrical Inspection Regulations”:
The Electrical Code regulated in this Chapter shall be enforced by the Development Services Department through qualified personnel as determined by the Department Director. The Department shall inspect all electrical equipment installed or altered in the Village, and shall require that it conform to the standards and specifications applicable and adopted as provided by the laws and ordinances appertaining thereto.
SECTION 2
Section 5-3-3, “Office of Chief Electrical Inspector,” of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby deleted in its entirety.
SECTION 3
Section 5-3-4 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended to delete the words “Building Department” and to substitute the words “Development Services Department” in their place.
SECTION 4
The first paragraph of Section 5-3-5 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended to delete the references to National Electrical Code 2005 in two locations and substitute “National Electrical Code 2011” in their place.
The second paragraph of Section 5-3-5 is hereby amended to delete the references to National Electrical Code 2005 and substitute “National Electrical Code 2011” in their place. Also, the second paragraph of Section 5-3-5 is further amended to delete the reference to NEC 2005 and substitute “NEC 2011” in its place.
SECTION 5
Section 5-3-6 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended to delete the reference to NEC 2005 and to substitute “NEC 2011.”
SECTION 6
Section 5-3-7 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended to delete in its entirety the text of Section 5-3-7 and substitute therefor Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein as new text for Section 5-3-7.
SECTION 7
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
