Autumn Leaves Bike Path Memo of Agreement
History
In 2007, the intersection of 151st Street and 82nd Avenue was improved by Cook County with the addition of a 151st Street westbound right turn lane onto northbound 82nd Avenue. The creation of this turn lane required the removal of an existing section of pedestrian path on the north side of 151st Street. The Village made an agreement with Cook County to fund the replacement the pedestrian path on the south side of 151st Street in the future, in exchange for the County’s funding of the right turn lane construction. The necessary path replacement would be from 82nd Avenue to 80th Avenue, on the south side of 151st Street, in order to connect again with the existing path.
As part of the previous Board approval for Autumn Leaves Assisted Living, the developer was required to construct an asphalt pedestrian path along the subject property’s 151st Street frontage. Therefore, since Autumn leaves would already be installing a portion of the pedestrian path planned to be constructed by the Village, Development Services requested Autumn Leaves to do the entire stretch of new path from 82nd Ave. to 80th Ave. The Village would then reimburse Autumn Leaves for the portion of the path beyond their property. The entire path route from 80th Avenue to 82nd Avenue is approximately 1,265 feet and is estimated to cost $41,252. The Village shall reimburse the developer an amount not to exceed the 1,265 feet total pedestrian path cost, less the 424 feet of pedestrian path that is the responsibility of the developer. The resulting 841 feet of path amounts to 66% of the overall cost, which equates to $27,424.33. Construction of the path shall include, but is not limited to, earthwork & grading, utility structure adjustments, stone base, asphalt, and landscape restoration.
