Title

ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF MUNICIPAL PROPERTY (FURNITURE AND FURNISHINGS)

Body

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois (the “Village”) is an Illinois home rule municipality; and

WHEREAS, the Village Police Department, over a year ago, moved to new and expanded headquarters, fully equipped with furnishings, and therefore the old furniture left behind at the old facility is no longer necessary or useful to the Village; and

WHEREAS, the Village’s Building Maintenance Department has tried to give the old furniture to other Village departments, local schools and other organizations, but most have declined to accept it; and

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village have therefore determined to donate the equipment to Orland Township and Recording for the Blind who are willing to take the used furniture that is no longer necessary or useful to the Village; and

WHEREAS, the above organizations will do the Village a service because the used furniture will be cleared out at no cost to the Village, while a scavenger would charge the Village to remove the equipment.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, in the exercise of the Village’s home rule powers, as follows:

SECTION 1

The above preambles are hereby incorporated into this Section as fully as if restated in their entirety herein.

SECTION 2

The donation to Orland Township and Recording for the Blind of the furnishings listed on Exhibit A attached hereto, which furnishings are no longer necessary or useful to the Village and some of which may be damaged and out of date, is hereby approved.  The Village hereby declares the furnishings to be of no value to it, as demonstrated by the fact that the Building Maintenance Department has been unable to give it to other Village departments although it has tried to do so.

SECTION 3

This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and approval as provided by law.
