DISCUSSION:
Discovery Clothing’s site plan and elevations received Board approval in November 2007. In August of 2007, the Village administratively approved an appearance review for a garbage enclosure to be located near the northwest corner of the building.
The Village approved an appearance review request for a generator and enclosure at Discovery Clothing in August of 2008. The petitioner has now returned with a proposal to change the enclosure from a solid masonry wall with a gate to a chain link fence screened by landscaping and a gate. An aluminum, wrought iron style fence would be preferred but is not required per code.
The generator is shown on the same place as in the previous appearance review; located on a concrete pad measuring approximately 9’ x 17’. The generator is shown at 3’-4” x 6’-11”. The generator is screened by the building wall on the south, a chain link fence and arborvitaes on the east and west, and a cedar gate on the north. The proposed screening is not as attractive as the proposed masonry wall but the Land Development Code does not require masonry for utility enclosures.
In order to avoid increasing lot coverage previously approved by the Village Board, the petitioner has removed a few sections of concrete walkway adjacent to the trash enclosure. These new landscaped areas will be planted with taller plants to screen the enclosure.

The generator addition for Discovery Clothing, as shown on the drawings titled ‘Discovery Clothing Company,’ prepared by Chipman Adams Ltd, dated 12-21-07, most recent revision 09-05-08, job number 07-6851, sheets A0.0 and A5.0, has been reviewed and approved administratively on September 10, 2008, subject to the following condition:
1. That all building code related items are met.
