AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 6, SECTION 13 OF THE ORLAND PARK VILLAGE CODE REGARDING FISHING, BOATING AND SWIMMING:
BODY
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park (the “Village”) have the authority to adopt ordinances and to promulgate rules and regulations that pertain to its government and affairs and to protect the public health, safety and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the recreational areas such as Lake Sedgewick, located at Centennial Park is presently available for fishing as are other ponds in Orland Park; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and residents of the Village that fishing be permitted, but restricted for some species and sizes as hereinafter provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1
8-6-13-1: FISHING:
Any person taking or attempting to take any fish, including minnows and crayfish, by any means whatever, in any waters or adjacent lands wholly or in part within the jurisdiction of the Village of Orland Park, shall first obtain and have in his/her possession a valid State of Illinois fishing license as described in Chapter 515, Act 5, Section 20-5, Illinois Compiled Statutes.
SECTION 2
Title 8, Chapter 6, Section 13 is amended by revising Subsection 2 thereof to provide as follows:
8-6-13-2: FISHING REGULATIONS:
All State of Illinois regulations apply when fishing within the Village of Orland Park. The taking of frogs, turtles and mussels is prohibited. Each angler is restricted to two (2) poles with fishing line. No seines or nets are allowed. Fishing from Village boat docks is prohibited.
