Sportsplex Carpet Replacement - Change Order
History
Bids were received for the Sportsplex carpet replacement on February 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Low bidder for the new carpet was Mr. David's Carpet Service, Ltd. of Tinley Park, IL. Their bid was $59,997.00.
A better option for the carpeting at Sportsplex that was approved a couple of months ago are 'carpet squares' instead of 12 foot section broadloom carpet. These squares are similar to the ones in the new police station and will be more efficient, easier to maintain, and are removable incase of damage. The difference in cost for the carpet squares is $8,963.00, leaving us $960.00 over the budgeted amount. However, the long term benefit of the carpet squares will out weigh the lack of versatility with the 12 foot section broadloom carpet. This additional cost will come from the same account line item.
Financial Impact
The money will come from Sportsplex account #283-4007-451-4310. The amount budgeted for this project was $68,000.00. The account has $15,044.00 remaining.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve accepting the change order amount of $8,963.00 from Mr. David's Carpet Service, Inc. for the carpet replacement at the Sportsplex.
