Title
143rd Street Metra Station Concessions
History
The vendor that was previously under contract to operate concessions at the 153rd Street and 143rd Street Metra stations, Is-Tas-Yon Café, decided against renewing their contract and has vacated both locations. The owner of the Amano Vivere Café, 9750 Crescent Park Circle Suite A, has expressed interest in providing coffee and small baked items in the 143rd Street Metra concession area for the next nine (9) weeks. The café will use this as an opportunity to advertise their new business and location by having a closer proximity to Metra commuters. Rather than immediately releasing a Request for Proposals for a new concession vendor, staff is seeking approval to enter a temporary agreement to allow the owner of Amano Vivere Café to serve the commuters for this interim period and further investigate a long term solution for both stations.
Financial Impact
Consistent with the contract with the prior vendor, Amano Vivere Café will not be obligated to make any payments to the Village as the profit margins on this service are not significant. The primary goal of allowing for concessions in the stations is to deliver service to residents/commuters.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve to enter into an agreement with Amano Vivere Café to provide temporary concession services at the 143rd Street Metra station.
