2009-2010 Road Salt
History
In order to acquire the best possible price for road salt, the Public Works Department participates in the State Joint Purchasing Program of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. This year the State of Illinois has contracted with Cargill Incorporated Salt Division, 24950 Country Club Boulevard, North Olmsted, Ohio, for a price of $63.15 per ton. Our salt is delivered from their distribution center in Lemont, Illinois. The Public Works Department has a Board approved budget line item in the amount of $378,900 for this purchase.
On November 9, 2009, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact
Public Works has budgeted $378,900 for the purchase of road salt and liquid deicing material for the 2009-2010 winter season.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve authorizing the Village Manager to accept and execute an agreement with Cargill Incorporated Salt Division of North Olmsted, Ohio, for the purchase of salt for the 2009-2010 winter season at the state bid purchase price of $63.15 per ton.
