New Police Vehicles - Purchase
History
In the current 2007/2008 budget we budgeted $336,000.00 for fourteen (14) new police vehicles. The Police Department is requesting to purchase six (6) 2008 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor vehicles for a price not to exceed $118,652.55 each, five (5) 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor vehicles for a price not to exceed $21,209.00 each, and three (3) Ford Explorer XLT (4Door) 4WD vehicles for a price not to exceed $21,768.65 each . The total cost for the purchase of fourteen (14) vehicles would be $284,266.25
The purchase of the Chevrolet Impala’s would be from Miles Chevrolet, 150 West Pershing Road, Decatur, Il., 62524-3160, Tx: 217-872-2070.
The purchase of the Ford Crown Victoria’s and the Ford Explorer’s would be from Currie Motors, 9423 W. Lincoln Hwy., Frankfort, Il. 60423, Tx: 815-464-9200.
The purchase prices are quoted in accordance with the Illinois State purchase contract for these vehicles.
At the 2/11/08 Public Safety Committee meeting, the members voted 3-0 to recommend approval.
Financial Impact
The current 2007/2008 Budget has $336,000.00 budgeted under line item #091-5006-431.70-20, Vehicle/Equipment Fund Reserve.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve the purchase of six (6) 2008 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor vehicles at a cost of $18,652.55 each, five (5) 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor vehicles at a cost of $21,409.00 each and three (3) Ford Explorer vehicles at a cost of $21,768.65 each for a total cost not to exceed $284,266.25.
