RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ESTABLISHMENT OF VILLAGE BASEBALL FIELD ACCESSIBLE AND USABLE BY PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park has long recognized the need for its recreational facilities to serve everyone, including people with special needs; and
WHEREAS, the Village has been approached by an ad hoc group of Village residents with the idea of raising funds through voluntary contributions to the Village to create a baseball field that will be fully accessible, both for participants and spectators, to children and adults with special needs; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board of Trustees has identified a site within the John Humphrey Field Complex for such a baseball field.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, that:
a. The Village is fully supportive of community efforts to raise funds for the placement and development of a baseball field within the John Humphrey Field Complex that will accommodate participants and spectators with special needs and which field will be fully compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act; and
b. All funds raised in the Orland Park community to develop such a baseball field will be held in a special account of the Village and which will be devoted solely to the facility described herein.
