Flood Plain Map Update - Ordinance
History
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has updated the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) during their process of going to digital technology. The last update of these maps was completed in November of 2000. The new maps have incorporated several changes to areas of the Village that have been modified as a result of the stormwater improvements that have been completed by the Village in the last several years.
These new maps have been reviewed by the Public Works staff and Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. (CBBEL). In order for the Village to stay in compliance with the Flood Insurance Rate Program, FEMA and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources - Office of Water Resources (IDNR/OWR) requires that the Flood Plain Ordinance be amended with new map panels no later than August 19, 2008. Participation in the Flood Insurance Rate Program assists those residents that are within the flood hazard areas in lowering their cost of flood insurance. Copy of the amended ordinance is attached.
On July 14, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
