A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE SOUTHWEST WATER SYSTEM EXPANSION AND REHABILITATION PROJECT

Body

WHEREAS the Village of Orland Park is part of the Southwest Water Transmission System; and

 

WHEREAS this system consists of 257.44 miles of distribution pipes, two pumping stations and two booster stations; and,

 

WHEREAS today that system accommodates 12 municipalities with a population of over 312,000 and over 100,000 water connections; and,

 

WHEREAS the system is in need of rehabilitation and enlargement in order to accommodate the projected long term needs of the region; and,

 

WHEREAS capital improvements have been identified and prioritized through a master planning process commenced in April 2008; and,

 

WHEREAS improvements will incorporate both safety and sustainability investments; and,

 

WHEREAS the project can be undertaken within the next 24 month period, which has been identified as critical; and,

 

WHEREAS the Mayor and Board of Trustees find and hereby declare that it is in the best interest of the residents of the village and neighboring communities to support the Southwest Water System Expansion and Rehabilitation project as a part of the National Stimulus Package;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK, Illinois as follows:

 

SECTION 1

 

The recitals set forth hereinabove shall be and are hereby adopted as findings of fact as if said recitals were fully set forth herein.

 

SECTION 2

 

The Mayor and Board of Trustees hereby confirm the eligibility of the Southwest Water System Expansion and Rehabilitation Project as a part of the National Stimulus Package and confirm the support of the city therefore.

 

SECTION 3

 

That the resolution be sent to the Illinois Congressional Delegation for the support and sponsorship.

 

SECTION 4

 

This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
