Title

Digging and Balling of Donated Trees - Proposal

History

Bryan Sord, from the 94 West Restaurant, has donated 838 miscellaneous trees and 450 miscellaneous shrubs to the Village of Orland Park from land that he owns.  This land was a nursery located on Route 6 in New Lenox.  We have contacted our 50/50 tree contractor, Mid America Tree & Landscape, Inc., for a price on digging and balling them.  His cost is $33,520.00, (Proposal attached), which averages approximately $26 per tree/shrub, which is well below the cost if the village had to buy them (over $350,000 worth of plants).  This cost includes transplanting some trees with a large spade truck.  The trees and shrubs will be planted in various village owned properties.

Financial Impact

This money will come from the Park budget 023-4004-451-7080 - $33,520.00.  This money was initially budgeted

for the Center School Play Unit that is not being installed this year.

Recommended Action/Motion

I move to recommend to the Board to approve waiving the bid process;

And

Recommend to approve accepting the Proposal from Mid America Tree and Landscape, Inc., for the digging and balling of miscellaneous trees and shrubs, at a cost not to exceed $33,520.
