Wedgwood Forcemain Manhole Rehabilitation - Proposal
History
Over the past two years, three sanitary manholes required replacement costing approximately $45,000 due to the degrading effects of hydrogen sulfide gas from the discharge of the Wedgwood forcemain. A fourth structure in the same line is also deteriorating. To prevent continued degradation of all four structures, Utility Division Staff has investigated various lining techniques.
Multiple products and numerous application techniques are available. Utility Division Staff met with several companies and determined that hand sprayed epoxy would be the best solution. Three companies were requested to submit proposals for this work. Crown Painting, Inc. of Mokena, Illinois, met with staff at length but has failed to respond to multiple requests for a proposal. Visu-Sewer Clean and Seal, Inc. of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, did not want to coat two of the structures without costly additional work and thus provided an incomplete proposal totaling $7,500. National Power Rodding Corp. of Chicago, Illinois, submitted a proposal totaling $14,595 for all four structures.
Therefore, staff recommends accepting the proposal for the manhole rehabilitation from National Power Rodding Corp. of Chicago, Illinois, for $14,595.
On October 8, 2007, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve accepting the proposal from National Power Rodding Corp. of Chicago, Illinois, for the Wedgwood Forcemain Manhole Rehabilitation in an amount not to exceed $14,595;
And
To approve authorizing the Village Manager to execute the proposal/contract.
