Sportsplex Gymnasium - Change Order
History
In order to meet the demand for multi-court play, the Sportsplex gymnasium is in need of additional badminton court configuration. The optimal time to install the extra sleeves and floor plates is during installation of the floor, however, this cost was not listed in the original bid specifications for the re-construction project currently underway. Floors Incorporated, the contractor working on the floors, supplied us with a quote for one set of badminton sleeves and covers for a cost of $1,310.00.
On September 6, 2011, this item was reviewed and approved by the Parks, Recreation, and Environmental Initiatives Committee and referred to the Board for approval. The item was priced to be a $7,130.00 additional cost, however in the past week, the number of additional sleeves had to be reduced. Upon further review of the detailed measurements by the contractor the original configuration could not be accommodated.
With the reduced impact of the additional installation, and a $900 credit applied to a reduction in striping, staff is requesting consideration of a $4500 change order to add the Sportsplex logos to gym 1 and gym 3. Currently, the specifications only included the Recreation logo on gym 2 at center court. A diagram of the logos is attached.
Financial Impact
The funds will come from the remaining balance originally allocated to this project. There is $9400.00 in the budget line item in account 283-4007-451.7010. These additions total $5,810.00.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve a change order to Floors Incorporated in the amount of $1,310.00 for installing additional sleeves and floor plates
and
I move to approve a change order to Floors Incorporated in the amount of $4,500 for additional printing of the Sportsplex logo on the gymnasium floors.
