Safe Ride Home Program
History
The Village is interested in continuing the Safe Ride Home Program for 2008. Last year, My Chauffer of Elk Grove Village provided this service and has submitted a proposal for service this year. Their proposal is both responsive to program needs and is within an acceptable cost.
The costs are broken down as follows:
1 sedan @ $100.50/hr for 5 hours = $502.50
3 sedans @ $100.50/hr for 4 hours/ea = $1,206.00
6 limousines @ $128.00/hr for 4 hours/ea = $3,072.00
Total = $4,780.50
One vehicle will be available from 11p.m. - 12 a.m., and a total of up to 10 vehicles will be available from 12 a.m. - 4 a.m. contingent on confirmation of participating municipalities and final service area. Limousines have been added to this year’s service to accommodate larger parties, which has slightly increased costs from last year.
Costs include gratuity and fuel surcharge. A dedicated phone line will be available during the evening for callers wishing to utilize the service. My Chauffeur will also provide a list of pick up and drop off locations for evaluation purposes.
The Michael P. Gordon Foundation has committed $2,500 in support for the program. The balance of the cost will be divided among the participating communities, anticipated to be Orland Park, Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Orland Hills, Palos Park, Palos Heights, and Tinley Park
Last year 9 vehicles provided a total of 45 rides and served 111 passengers.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve continuing the Safe Ride Home Program in 2008 and utilizing up to 10 vehicles.
