Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System Assessment - Board Approval
History
The Public Works Department utilizes the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System to electronically monitor, control and retrieve data in order to efficiently operate the Village’s potable water supply in the deliverance of water to the Village residents. Since its inception, the SCADA System has been continually updated to keep it abreast of the latest technology so that the system can be operated in the most efficient manner. Recently the server (computer) has been replaced and the need exists to verify the connectivity/operation of all the various components to identify a plan for making improvements to the remaining SCADA infrastructure.
B&W Control Systems Integration, LLC (BWCSI) of Crystal Lake, Illinois, has performed the latest upgrade and is the firm most familiar with our present system. BWCSI has submitted a proposal for $9,440 to perform the scope of work which includes status and alarm testing at all sites, equipment inventory, system diagram, disaster recovery plan, a recommendation report and PLC code backup of all SCADA software.
On April 14, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact
Available funding for this project is in Line Item #031-6001-433.43-20 and Line Item #031-6002-433.43-20.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve accepting the proposal from B&W Control Systems Integration, LLC of Crystal Lake, Illinois, for the assessment of the Village’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System for an amount not to exceed $9,440;
And
Approve authorizing the Interim Village Manager to execute the contract.
