AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 5, CHAPTER 1 (BUILDING CODE) OF THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK, AS AMENDED ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE OF 2018

WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Orland Park (Village), an Illinois home rule municipality, have adopted the 2018 International Existing Building Code published by the International Code Council for the control of buildings and structures as provided therein; and
WHEREAS, amendments to the International Existing Building Code are published from time to time, and the Village regularly reviews and adopts such updated Code provisions to keep the Village Code up to date and in line with widely accepted and adopted international standards; and
WHEREAS, the Village further has engaged in a process to solicit input and keep the building community informed about the potential changes; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees have considered the adoption of additional local amendments to the International Building Code of 2018, including the specific adoption of Appendix “G”, Flood Resistant Construction, among other updates; have offered input; and have determined them to be in the best interests of the Village and its residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1
This Board finds and determines that the adoption of the following amendments to Title 5, Chapter 1 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is in the best interests of the Village and its residents, and is in the public interest.
SECTION 2
Title 5, Chapter 1 of the Village Code of the Village of Orland Park is hereby amended by adopting the changes as reflected on the attached Exhibit A, “2025 Adoption of Appendix G and Local Amendments to the 2018 International Building Code and Proposed Amendment to Title 5, Chapter 1” by deleting the text marked with strikethrough and adding ...
