Redevelopment/ Reconstruction of West Avenue, 151st Street and Franchesca Court;

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to reconstruct specific segments of West Avenue, 151st Street and Franchesca Court that have fallen into disrepair since the last street improvements.

LOCATION:
West Avenue from 151st to 153rd Street;
151st Street from West Avenue to Ravinia Avenue;
Franchesca Court

SIZE:
The project corridors total .68 miles of road reconstruction;

151st Street (West to Ravinia): Major Collector Street;

Franchesca Court: Local Street;

NATURAL FEATURES:
Few natural features exist. Parkways have some trees. Along 151st Street from Ravinia Avenue to West Avenue, drainage swales flank each side of the street and prohibit significant parkway tree presence. Along West Avenue and Franchesca Court, trees are few and sporadic. Finally, West Avenue has an incongruent parkway on the west side of the street due to unincorporated parcels.

PLANNING OVERVIEW:
The Community Development Block Grant program is a Federal Program by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by Cook County’s Department of Planning and Development.

DISCUSSION:
In 2009, the Village of Orland Park will apply to the Community Development Block Grant Program for financial assistance with the above mentioned street segments surrounding and in the Cameno Terrace and Villa Re’al subdivisions. The block area these subdivisions form is colle...
