Title
Pinewood North Lift Station Pump #1 Replacement - Purchase
History
On August 8th, 2015, Pump #1, one of two pumps at the Pinewood North Lift Station, failed. This 7.5-horsepower submersible pump was sent to the authorized service representative, Gasvoda & Associates, Inc., of Calumet City, Illinois, for repair. Per the attached proposal from Gasvoda & Associates, itemized repairs require a new motor, shaft assembly, the replacement of all bearings, O-rings and gaskets; including filling of the internal motor housing and seal chamber with new oil, for a total cost of $4,175.00. The cost to purchase a new pump and warranty is $5,877.00. Staff recommends purchasing a new more efficient pump with warranty, rather than repairing an aging pump with continued costly maintenance.
On September 8, 2015, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
Financial Impact
Sufficient funds exist in the machinery and equipment account 031-6003-461700 to cover the cost for this pump replacement.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve purchasing a 7.5-horsepower replacement pump for the Pinewood North Lift Station from Gasvoda & Associates, Inc., of Calumet City, Illinois, for an amount not to exceed $5,877.00.
