RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF RENEWAL OF AN INDOOR FACILITY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK AND ORLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT 135

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park operates a Parks & Recreation Department and provides all recreational programming to residents and non-residents residing in the Orland Park area; and
WHEREAS, Orland School District 135 educates many of the same children that utilize the Village’s recreational programs, including special recreational programming and summer camps; and
WHEREAS, both agencies share many of the very same households within their taxing jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the Village is desirous of utilizing certain School District 135 indoor school facilities for summer day camp to augment the Village’s own facilities, in addition to the existing utilization of those facilities for special recreation programming; and
WHEREAS, both the Village and District 135 previously had an intergovernmental agreement for mutual use of indoor facilities, with the most recent term of the agreement ending August 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, said agreement contemplated reasonable reimbursements to District 135 for energy costs and flexibility to the District in assigning facilities for Village use;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Village Board of Trustees authorizes the Village Manager to prepare a renewed intergovernmental agreement and submit said agreement for consideration by the District 135 Board of Education to be effective for the 2013 special recreational and summer day camp programming.
