Sidewalk Replacement Program - Board Approval
History
The Public Works Department administers the Village’s 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program. This program has been very beneficial to both the residents and the Village.
For several years, staff has used the figure of $5.50 per square foot or $137.50 per sidewalk square in calculating the amount owed or to be reimbursed. However, due to skyrocketing material and fuel surcharge costs, an increase in this amount is necessary. Staff has calculated all of our current costs including labor, equipment and material and has determined that the Village’s cost for sidewalk replacement is $8.50 per square foot or $212.50 per sidewalk square.
On June 9, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact
The 2007/08 Fiscal Year Budget has Board approved Line Item 010-5002-431.43-30 in the amount of $5,000 for the 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve increasing the per footage cost for the 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program to $8.50 per square foot or $212.50 per sidewalk square.
