Title
Pneumatic Concrete Structure Repairs - Proposal
History
The Public Works Department is initiating a program for the repair of concrete structures utilizing the pneumatic repair method or shotcrete. Over the last several years, the Public Works Department has used the pneumatic repair method on curbs, box culverts and bridges. This method can now be used to repair manholes, catch basins, structures and pipes with little or no excavation of the surrounding area. This reduces or eliminates the need for restorations to the site. Staff has identified twenty-one (21) such structures that are in need of repair using this method. Staff has also researched companies in the Chicagoland area that have the ability to perform this type of work. It was found that only Robert H. Ward & Assoc., Inc. of South Chicago Heights, Illinois, performs structural repairs utilizing the pneumatic/shotcrete method. Staff has worked with Robert H. Ward & Assoc. in the past doing curb and bridge repair work and have been very pleased with their work. Robert H. Ward has submitted a proposal for the repair of twenty-one (21) manhole/catch basin structures for $22,650.
