Title
VOP/Cook County 80th Avenue - (151st Street to 159th Street) - Maintenance Agreement
History
On June 25, 1999, as a condition of Cook County issuing Permit No. 97-07-1878, the Village of Orland Park agreed to the maintenance of the trees and parkway on the County right-of-way on the west side of 104th Avenue from the Eagle Ridge III Subdivision property line south to 179th Street, the north side of 179th Street from 104th Avenue to 108th Avenue and the east side of 108th Avenue from 179th Street north to the Eagle Ridge III property line (see attached diagram and aerial photo).
On September 5, 2002, the County of Cook and the Village of Orland Park entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement for the improvement of 80th Avenue from 151st Street to 159th Street. As part of that Agreement, the Village accepted responsibility for the maintenance of the landscaped median for the length of the project (see attached diagram and aerial photo).
Currently, the Village is only maintaining the median on 80th Avenue but is willing to additionally take over maintenance of the right-of-way if the County will rescind the Village’s responsibility for maintaining the County’s right-of-way around the afore-mentioned Eagle Ridge III Subdivision.
Therefore, this proposal comes before the Public Works and Engineering Committee for consideration to approve rescinding the current Agreement with the Cook County Highway Department for the maintenance of the County right-of-way around Eagle Ridge III Subdivision in exchange for assuming maintenance responsibilities for the right-of-way on 80th Avenue in addition to the maintenance of the median.
