Title

OSHA/IDOL Compliance Training - Proposal

History

As part of the Public Works Department Safety Training Program, it is necessary to update our training policies, training schedules and record keeping in order to bring the program into compliance with current OSHA/IDOL standards.  HS&E Compliance Resources of Munster, Indiana, has been utilized in the past to provide training, safety audits and information regarding compliance requirements.  Since HS&E Compliance Resources is familiar with our existing safety training programs, staff has requested that they submit a proposal (attached) to evaluate our existing safety programs and bring all of our mandatory training, data collection, record keeping and safety audits up to date and in compliance with the current standards.

The 2007/2008 Fiscal Year Budget includes a Board approved line item in the budget of the Streets, Utilities and Vehicles and Equipment Divisions for the updates to our Safety Training Program.

PLEASE SAVE ATTACHMENTS.  THE INFORMATION ATTACHED WILL NOT BE DUPLICATED FOR THE DECEMBER 17, 2007, BOARD MEETING.

A NEW COVER SHEET WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE APPROPRIATE BOARD MOTION.

Financial Impact

The cost of updating our safety training will be shared between the Streets Division (Account #010-5001-431.29-10) in the amount of $2,800, Utilities Division (Account #031-6001-433.29-10) in the amount of $4,000 and the Vehicles and Equipment Division (Account #010-5006-431.29-10) in the amount of $2,011 for a total cost of $8,811.
