Site Restorations - Proposal
History
The Public Works Department contracts out a portion of our restoration work each year. This enables us to take advantage of the early spring weather to complete restorations. Staff has contacted three (3) landscape firms requesting pricing for the upcoming season. Two vendors submitted pricing on a per yard of sod basis - GroundsKeeper Landscape Care, LLC of Orland Park, Illinois, and Mid America Tree and Landscape, Inc. of Mokena, Illinois. GroundsKeeper Landscape submitted the low price of $8.75 per yard. We have begun performing the work as it is critical to get this work started as soon as possible. The proposal was based on the known work that is needed, however, our construction work is ongoing throughout the season and we have been advised by both contractors that due to fuel costs, pricing will only go up. Therefore, staff would like to lock in the $8.75 per yard cost for the remainder of the budget year and utilize GroundsKeeper Landscape Care for any additional restoration work that will be needed.
On June 9, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact
The Public Works Department has Board approved line items in the 2007/2008 Fiscal Year Budget for Contract Restoration work. The line items are in the Water, Sewer and Street Division Budgets. The Board approved line items are as follows: 031-6002-433.43-50 (Water) $5,000, 031-6003-433.43-50 (Sewer) $7,500 and 010-5002-431.43-50 (Streets) $10,000.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve accepting the proposal from GroundsKeeper Landscape Care, LLC of Orland Park, Illinois, for site restoration work for a cost not to exceed $8.75 per square yard and for a total cost not to exceed the Board Approved line item amounts.
