144th Place and First Avenue - Stop Sign Request

History

There were no residents from 144th Place and First Avenue at the meeting.  Lt. Bianchi, Chief McCarthy and Trustee Schussler met with residents after the last meeting to discuss their traffic concerns.  Several suggestions were made , one was to plant trees in the parkway and/or allow parking on both sides of the street.  Both would give the street the appearance of being narrower and drivers might slow down.

Lt. Bianchi said he did a traffic study using the new Speed Spys (pole mounted radar).  The study indicated that in one 8 hour time period (using the largest volume) 112 vehicles were recorded and the average speed was 19 mph.  Lt. Bianchi then went over the point system on the Residential Stop Control Warrant Worksheet, advising board members this request received 185 points, less than half of the required 500 points needed to warrant adding a stop sign.
