Civic Center Tile Installation - Approval
History
The carpeting in the Civic Center Annex was in need of replacement to keep the appearance of the room appealing to renters. The Civic Center Authority Board instructed that estimates be obtained for carpet removal and tile installation as soon as possible. Estimates were received from:
--Consolidated Tile & Carpet for $17,263,
--Integral Flooring Systems, Inc. for $23,965,
--Sherlock Carpet, no response after two phone requests,
--American Import Tile, no interest.
Consolidated Tile & Carpet was chosen as the low bidder. If there is a cost adjustment due to unforeseen issues in the cement floor under the carpet resulting in additional repair material and labor, the cost for this project will be an additional $4,754. This will bring the total of the project to $22,017.
On October 27, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Finance Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
Financial Impact
Funds were available in the FY2008 Civic Center budget for this project.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve waiving the bid process for the tile purchase in the Annex in the Civic Center;
And
To approve hiring Consolidated Tile & Carpet to remove the existing carpeting and install Metroflor tile at a cost not to exceed $22,017.
