2012 PetSafe Bark for Your Park Contest

History
Nominations for the 2012 PetSafe “Bark for Your Park” contest open May 1st. An application must be completed including a verification letter that states the land has been acquired for the dog park, letter(s) from the Mayor, Village Manager, Director of Parks, or other civic leaders within community that document their support of the proposed dog park, and examples of media support. Finalists will be chosen based upon community support and the number of nominations received from the public.
This year there will be a $100,000 grand prize awarded to the overall winner, $25,000 to the runner up and $25,000 to the community with the highest percentage of votes to population.
It should be noted that if Orland Park is chosen as one of the 15 finalists we will be required to submit a 2 minute video (last year’s cannot be re-used) prior to the voting stage. If we were to be awarded any of the three prizes we must comply with the Community Eligibility Requirements as follows:

1. Agree in writing to be bound by Official Contest Rules.
2. Provide land for construction and operation of the dog park, the location and suitability which are subject to the Sponsor’s reasonable approval.
3. Provide a budget for design and construction of the dog park, which shall be subject to the Sponsor’s reasonable approval.
4. Provide evidence of appropriation or availability of sufficient funds to complete construction of the dog park in accordance with the proposed budget.
5. Provide a budget for operation of the dog park, which shall be subject to Sponsor’s reasonable approval, and commit to maintain and operate the dog park for at least three (3) years from the date the dog park opens to the general public.
6. Make the dog park available for use by the general public at no charge, subject to reasonable rules and regulations concerning such use.
