Title
Seasonal Lighting Improvements - Proposal
History
The current seasonal lighting system along LaGrange Road has been unreliable and difficult to maintain due to high and erratic voltages. The Public Works Department has been working with an engineering consultant to develop a plan that should eliminate those issues and give us a reliable, easily maintainable lighting system.

Legal notice requesting proposals for improvements to the existing seasonal lighting system along LaGrange Road ran in the Daily SouthtownStar on Thursday, March 20, 2008. The request for proposals included all labor and material necessary to upgrade each light. In addition to the legal notice, the following five (5) contractors were contacted by the Public Works Department and informed of the request:

Elmund & Nelson Co. of Elgin, Illinois
Burke Electrical Construction Co. of Frankfort, Illinois
Home Towne Electric, Inc. of Lake Villa, Illinois
Hickey Electrical Contractors Inc. of Oak Forest, Illinois
The Edward Electric Company of Hillside, Illinois

Two contractors submitted proposals for the required work - Hickey Electrical Contractors Inc. and The Edward Electric Company. Each contractor submitted unit pricing per light pole for a three-year period from 2008 through 2010. Pricing for the years of 2009 and 2010 was requested for budgetary reasons and is subject to change due to the uncertainty of future fuel and material costs. Hickey Electrical Contractors Inc. submitted a cost for 2008 of $1,650.00 per light. The Edward Electric Company submitted a cost for 2008 of $1,241.50 per light.

On April 14, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
