Southwest Highway Façade over US Route 45 (LaGrange Road) - Board Approval
History
This item was included with the design services for the Pedestrian Bridge over US Route 45 from McDonough Associates Inc. (MAI) of Chicago, Illinois, at the Public Works and Engineering Committee Meeting on January 14, 2008. The CMAQ Grant for the pedestrian bridge over US Route 45 cannot be used for the engineering design and construction of the façade for the Southwest Highway Bridge. Therefore, MAI has presented a separate proposal for professional design services and the preparation of construction documents for a decorative façade for the Southwest Highway (SWH) Bridge over Route 45 for a lump sum cost of $75,230.
The scope of work includes: the preparation of construction documents for architectural treatments to the north fascia of the Southwest Highway Bridge over Route 45, preparation of specifications and cost estimate for placing façade enhancement materials on the new SWH Bridge, coordination with the Village and IDOT for the type of materials being used, weight considerations and foundation and footing requirements. In addition, accent lighting will be investigated and presented to the Village for approval.
On February 11, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Financial Impact
This is not a budgeted item. A budget adjustment will be necessary to fund the engineering and construction for this project. A transfer of funds in the amount of $75,230 into Account Number 054-0000-499.84-80 is needed to fund this project.
