AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 6, SECTION 8-6-8-2 OF THE ORLAND PARK VILLAGE CODE IN REGARD TO PUBLIC CAMPING
Body
WHEREAS, the Village President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park (the “Village”) have the authority to adopt ordinances and to promulgate rules and regulations that pertain to its government and affairs and protect the public health, safety, and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/1-2-1, the Village may pass all ordinances and make all rules and regulations proper or necessary, to carry into effect the powers granted to municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the Village deems it to be in the best interest of the public to prohibit public camping within the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, and pursuant to its home rule powers, as follows:
SECTION 1
The above recitals are incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2
Title 8, Chapter 6, of the Orland Park Village Code is amended by deleting Subsection 8-6-8-2 and replacing it in its entirety as follows:
“8-6-8-2: CAMPGROUNDS AND PUBLIC CAMPING PROHIBITED:
For the purpose of this Section the words "camp car or trailer" and the words "campgrounds" are hereby defined as follows:
A camp car or trailer is any unit used for living or sleeping purposes and which is equipped with wheels or similar devices used for the purpose of transporting said unit from place to place, whether by motive power or other means. A campground is any place, area or tract of land upon which is located any camp car or trailer, which is in actual use as the habitation of any human being or beings.
No campground as hereinabove defined shall be established or located within the limits of the Village.
It shall be unlawful for any person to camp, or to engage in the activity of unauthorized camping, or to store personal property, ...
