Annual Traffic Signal Maintenance - Proposal
History
The Public Works Department contracts out the preventative maintenance of Village-owned traffic signals. Currently, we have ten (10) intersections under our jurisdiction. The Village traditionally utilizes the same contractor that performs this work for the state and county as part of their bid procedure. This year, as in the past several years, Meade Electric Company, Inc. of McCook, Illinois, has been the selected contractor. Therefore, staff is requesting to waive the bid process and accept the proposal from Meade Electric Company. Meade has indicated that they are holding the cost of monthly maintenance at the same rate as last year - $138 per site.
On November 12, 2007, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works and Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
Financial Impact
The 2007/08 Fiscal Year Budget has Board approved Line Item 010-5002-431.43-70 in the amount of $90,000 for the maintenance and repair of traffic signals and streetlights.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve waiving the bid process;
And
To approve accepting the proposal from Meade Electric Company, Inc. of McCook, Illinois, for traffic signal maintenance for a cost not to exceed $138 per site per month;
And
To approve authorizing the Acting Village Manager to execute the contract.
