Title/Name/Summary
Renewal for the Code Red System - Expenditure Approval
History
The Code Red Emergency Notification System has been in use by the Village now for three years. The system has been activated on numerous occasions to notify the public of critical watering information and has also been used by the police department for neighborhood meeting notifications. To date the Village has placed approximately 200,000 calls using the system.
The annual renewal of the system is $10,000 and includes a block of 20,000 minutes. Additional blocks of time are purchased in 20,000 minute increments for $6,000. Staff is recommending the purchase of two additional blocks of time based on historical usage. Any unused minutes from this purchase will be rolled over to next year and are not lost.
H.T.E is an authorized reseller of the Code Red system, and offers a discount not available to the village directly from Code Red.
The Finance Committee voted unanimously to approve this expenditure at their July 28, 2008 meeting.
Financial Impact
There is $22,000 in the current fiscal year budget for this expenditure.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve renewal of the Code Red Emergency Notification System including a total of 60,000 minutes from Sungard H.T.E. at a cost not to exceed $22,000.
