A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE 159TH STREET CORRIDOR PLAN; COMPLETED IN JUNE 2010, IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH COORDINATED TRANSPORTATION, URBAN DESIGN, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES FOR 159TH STREET BETWEEN I-355 AND I-294.
Body
WHEREAS, 159TH Street is a major transportation corridor that transverses the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park is committed to the safety and protection of the this community, and the creation of a safe and attractive transportation system that serves residents, businesses, and visitors in the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park is committed to the promotion of a balanced and integrated approach to community and transportation planning and the development of an innovative transportation plan that enables all members of the public to have access to all modes of transportation and to travel conveniently, comfortably, and reliably in the Village; and
WHEREAS the Mayor and Board of Trustees find and hereby declare that it is in the best interest of the residents of the village and neighboring communities to support the concepts set forth in the 159th Street corridor Plan; and
WHEREAS, cooperation with the recommendations set forth in this plan will foster a positive collaborative relationship with the other five municipalities, the regional transportation providers, and other community stakeholders that have participated in this planning effort; and
WHEREAS, the 159th Street Corridor Plan was completed by consultant HNTB Corp. for the sum of $200,000, through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation; including a $5600 share paid by Orland Park along with local shares from other participating communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:
