Title/Name/Summary

Hill Creek Court Overland Flooding - Proposal

History

As a result of overland flow flooding reported by residents on Hill Creek Court in the Brook Hills Subdivision, Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd. of Rosemont, Illinois (CBBEL), was asked to look into likely causes and solutions.  Upon investigation, several issues were found to be contributing to the problem including resident-induced obstructions to overland flow paths, grading issues and shortcomings to the storm sewer system within the adjacent Grasslands Subdivision.

To reduce the impact of the Grasslands storm sewer, CBBEL has recommended a storm sewer be installed on 171st Street at Steeplechase Parkway.  To facilitate the change and reduce the potential of flooding, proposals were obtained so the work can be completed immediately within this construction season.  Airy’s, Inc. of Tinley Park, Illinois, submitted a price of $17,949 and DiPaolo Construction Company of Calumet Park, Illinois, submitted a price of $16,775.  Also, a contingency fund totaling $3,225 is requested.  In addition, the cost of the investigation and engineering by CBBEL is $2,500.

Financial Impact

Funds for this project are available in the Stormwater GMP Project Account #031-6007-433.70-50 which is under budget.
