In-Car Video Project - Purchase Approval
History
As you are aware, we have equipped all of our patrol cars with Panasonic Arbitrator digital in-car video system. This program has been highly successful. These systems have captured evidence related to traffic offenses, provided a tool to review training issues, and provided valuable insight regarding police citizen relations.
Due to a price reduction in phase two of this project we have a budget surplus of $17,532.15. I am seeking to purchase three (3) additional Arbitrator systems to be installed in our supervisor's patrol units. I have attached a price quote from CDS Office Technologies in the amount of $13,932.00. CDS hold the State of Illinois Joint Purchasing Contract for the Panasonic Arbitrator.
On July 14, 2008, this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Safety Committee and referred to the Board for approval.
Financial Impact
$17,532.15 for this project is budgeted under 010-7002-421.70-30.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve the purchase of three (3) Panasonic Arbitrator digital in-car video systems, three (3) extended warranties, three (3) Siren detector cables for Panosonic through the State of Illinois Joint Purchasing Contract from CDS Office Technologies, 535 West Fifth Avenue, Naperville, Illinois at a price not to exceed $13,932.00
