Title

Establishing a minimum fine for the violation of a Village Ordinance - Ordinance

History

A recent review of village ordinances with Klein, Thorpe, and Jenkins indicated that there was a wide range of fines for municipal ordinances and that the minimum fine of $30.00 was established in 1997.

The ordinance will create consistency in the fine schedule by establishing the minimum fine from any ordinance violation at $50.00.  The Hearing Officer have the descretion to raise the fine to a maximum of $250.00 for parking/equipment violations and to $750.00 for any other ordinance violations.

This ordinance from Klein, Thorpe, and Jenkins is attached for your review.

Recommended Action/Motion

I move to recommend to the Board to pass the above Ordinance entitled:  AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A MINIMUM FINE FOR THE VIOLATION OF A VILLAGE ORDINANCE.
