Title
Vehicle Sticker Rate Increase - Approval
History
In the past, Village of Orland Park vehicle stickers were sold on an annual basis. The cost of a one-year sticker for a passenger car/motorcycle (the most commonly sold sticker) was $10. Many years ago, when the decision was made to switch to a biennial sticker, the price was increased by 50% to $15. This price has remained constant for the last 6 years.
Projected vehicle sticker revenue for FY2009 is $609,400 (including penalty revenues of $27,400). The estimated cost associated with the sale of Village vehicle stickers is approximately $69,400, including the price of stickers, postage to mail applications to residents, postage to honor mail-in requests, courier service to bring applications to the Village Hall from the lock box, annual license fees for the vehicle data base, extra summer interns, lock box fees at Fifth Third Bank, upgrading the vehicle database, costs to produce the applications, printing second notices and the postage associated with the second notices.
Staff is recommending an increase in fees for Village vehicle stickers, effective with the upcoming biennial sticker sale (beginning in May 2009). The fees would increase between $5 and $8, depending on the type of sticker. Cashier staff surveyed neighboring communities regarding vehicle sticker fees and the results are attached. Orland Park is the only suburb with a biennial sticker and the fees are less than neighboring communities who sell annual stickers varying in range from $13 to $50. The proposed fee schedule is outlined below:
