PROJECT:
Redevelopment/ Reconstruction of El Cameno Court, El Cameno Lane, El Cameno Terrace, Franchesca Court and West Avenue streetscape;

PETITIONER:

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to inform the public about recent reconstruction activity on select streets within the El Cameno neighborhoods that had fallen into disrepair.

West Avenue from 151st to 153rd Street;
El Cameno Court, Lane, Terrace;
Franchesca Court

PLANNING OVERVIEW:
The Community Development Block Grant program is a Federal Program by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is administered by Cook County’s Department of Planning and Development. In order to close out the grant process a performance hearing to solicit comment and feedback is required.

DISCUSSION:
In 2009, the Village of Orland Park applied to the Community Development Block Grant Program for financial assistance with the above mentioned street segments surrounding and in the Cameno Terrace and Villa Re’al subdivisions. The block area these subdivisions form is collectively referred to as the Cameno residential neighborhood. The combined Cameno residential neighborhood corresponds to block group 3 of census tract 824112. Block group 3 is the only block group in the Village of Orland Park that met the eligibility criteria for the CDBG program based on 2000 Census figures-- 51% or more of an area’s population in the low to moderate income bracket.
