Title/Name/Summary

Railroad Crossings Quiet Zones - Proposal

History

In April, 2008 the Home Owners Association (H.O.A.) of the Crossings at Brookhills sent a letter to the Board of Trustees requesting assistance in securing permission from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to construct barriers in their roadway and to meet certain criteria for the creation of Quiet Zones. Attached, please find a feasibility study that was conducted outlining the conditions that the medians can be installed.

Financial Impact

This item has been included in the Capital Improvement Program (C.I.P.) in the amount of $30,000 for Fiscal Year 2009.

On August 11, 2008 this item was reviewed and approved by the Public Works & Engineering Committee and referred to the Board for approval.

Recommended Action/Motion

I move to approve obtaining professional engineering services including permitting from the Illinois Department of Transportation and Cook County Highway Department for the installation of Quiet Zones within their respective right-of-ways.
