History
Staff has been successful over the last several years increasing the revenue of our grass roots sponsorship program by an average of 18%, with the 2017 annual revenue being over $100,000. As part of the 2018 budget process, recreation staff has been tasked to increase funds for special events. In an effort to increase sponsorship revenue, staff has researched how other communities, park districts, and recreation departments attract and acquire higher level sponsors. In order to determine our value to businesses, staff inventoried the recreation department assets to establish what would be attractive to large companies.

Research indicates the trend for communities, park districts, and recreation departments is to offer opportunities that are of value to companies, which include presenting sponsorships, naming rights, and flexibility to customize comprehensive sponsorship packages based on business needs.

During the research process, staff met with Sue Linn, an industry marketing professional. Sue has experience with both Moraine Valley Community College and Palos Hospital. Sue believes the existing sponsorship program/packet is effective, encouraged us to continue the grass roots program, and to expand our sponsorship outreach to attract higher level sponsorship. This may include a small reception with officials and staff, or one on one meetings with potential sponsors.

Staff is requesting approval for:

1. The sponsorship partner program to target premier Village events, such as, Taste of Orland Park, July 4th Celebration, and Centennial Park West Concert by offering presenting sponsorships, naming rights, and customized comprehensive packages utilizing village assets. 2. Sponsor naming rights to village facilities. For example, recreation facilities could include the Sportsplex gymnasium, weight room, fitness center, soccer arena, aerobics studio, and Rock Wall. The...
