RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A LOCAL VENDOR PURCHASING POLICY IN THE VILLAGE OF ORLAND PARK, COOK AND WILL COUNTIES, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois (“Village”) desires to adopt a Local Vendor Policy (“Policy”), a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village have determined that it is in the best interests of the Village and its residents to adopt this Policy.
WHEREAS, it will further be the policy of the Village, within good business practices, to purchase goods from local vendors based on the policy that government support of local retail business benefits the government through stabilization of property tax; and
WHEREAS, the Village, by its actions, should encourage local residents to support local businesses, and
WHEREAS, by utilizing local retail businesses, the Village supports the retention and expansion of employment opportunities for all of its citizens.
NOW THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Orland Park, Cook and Will Counties, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1
That the Preambles hereto are hereby made a part of, and operative provisions of, this Resolution as fully as if completely repeated at length herein.
SECTION 2
That this President and Board of Trustees of the Village, hereby find that it is in the best interest of the Village and its residents to adopt this Policy, attached as Exhibit A, and made a part hereof.
SECTION 3
That the Village President and Village Clerk, or their designees, are hereby authorized to execute the aforesaid Policy for and on behalf of said Village.
SECTION 4
That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption and approval.
