Safe Ride Home Program 2008/2009
History
The Village is interested in continuing the Safe Ride Home Program for 2008/2009. Last year, My Chauffer of Elk Grove Village provided this service and has submitted a proposal for service this year. Their proposal is both responsive to program needs and is within an acceptable cost.
The costs are broken down as follows:
1 limousine @ $121.00/hr for 5 hours = $605.00
9 limousines @ $121.00/hr for 4 hours = $4,356.00
Additional fee to service call volume = $500.00
Total = $5,461.00
One vehicle will be available from 11:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., and a total of 10 vehicles will be available from 12:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.
Costs include gratuity, fuel, and Service Transportation Charge (STC). A dedicated phone line will be available during the evening for callers wishing to utilize the service. My Chauffeur will also provide a list of pick up and drop off locations for evaluation purposes.
The Michael P. Gordon Foundation has committed to supporting the program again this year. The balance of the cost after the donation will be divided among the participating communities which includes Orland Park, Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Orland Hills, Palos Park, and Tinley Park.
Last year 10 vehicles provided service to a total of 174 passengers. This is a budgeted line item in the Officials budget.
Recommended Action/Motion
I move to approve continuing the Safe Ride Home Program in 2009;
and
To approve authorizing the Village Manger to enter into a contract with My Chauffeur of Elk Grove Village, Illinois for an amount not to exceed $5,461.00 for charter transportation services for the Safe Ride Home program.
