No Mow Policy (151st Street and Larkspur Lane)
History
A resident of the Catalina Drove subdivision contacted the Village pertaining to safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians due to obstructed views of the crosswalks caused by overgrown road verge near Catalina Grove Family Picnic Area at the intersection of 151st Street and Larkspur Lane. The resident understands that the Forest Preserves have strategically reduced mowing to allow the lands to return to a more natural state, but drivers do not have a clear sightline of the pedestrians who utilize that crosswalk. The resident feels that this is a huge safety risk, especially when crossing the road with their young children.
The resident is requesting that the ‘No Mow’ policy be revised to require mowing within a certain number of feet near the crosswalk to improve visibility.
