Title

Speed Bumps or Speed Limit Signs (Between Deer Chase Avenue and Emerald Avenue)

History

Multiple residents contacted PTAC with safety concerns for children crossing the street on Deer Chase Avenue to go to the Emerald Estates Park due to speeding vehicles.  Deer Chase Avenue is a U-shaped roadway and a lot of kids cross the street in front of the park and on the sound end of Deer Chase Avenue and Emerald Avenue where a crosswalk is present.  This park has been increasingly more popular with young families moving into the neighborhood.  Many delivery trucks, service trucks and cars speed down Deer Chase Avenue as well as the bend of the curve with a blind spot making it very dangerous for children playing at the park, especially the curve where the playground is located.  There are several houses with children under the age of 6.

These residents who reside within the Deer Chase Estates subdivision are requesting the installation of speed bumps on each side of the curved roadway between Deer Chase Avenue and Emerald Street as well as in front of the Emerald Estates Park on Deer Chase Avenue.  If this is not possible, one of the requestors is proposing a digital radar speed sign and a sign that asks drivers to slow down or another effective way to slow down cars. Another resident is requesting at minimum installing speed-limit signs in both directions on Deer Chase Avenue.
