No Left Turn or Resident-Only Parking
(Raintree Drive at 152nd Street)
History
The Superintendent of District 135 contacted the Police Department about concerns for traffic backing up a significant distance from Liberty Elementary School. The school pick up and drop off lines have been extending all the way east on 152nd Street to Orlan Brook Drive and then north on Orlan Brook Drive to 151st Street and even wrapping onto eastbound 151st Street at Orlan Brook Drive.
The Superintendent is requesting either a ‘No Left Turn’ sign be installed at Raintree Drive and 152nd Street on school days from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. or implement resident-only parking from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Having the no left turn sign would alleviate people turning into the pick-up line and keep the traffic flowing more smoothly and avoid delaying the line longer than needed. The resident-only parking signs would prohibit the students’ parents from parking on Raintree Drive at drop off/pick up times. The school is open for any other suggestions on how to improve the flow of traffic.
